How to get rid of dark spots
Discolorations (hyperpigmentation) can be defined as the darkening of the skin caused by UV damage, natural aging, acne, hormonal fluctuations and/or melasma. The main cause of discolorations or hyperpigmentation on skin is melanin overproduction. Melanin, the natural pigment that gives skin its color, is produced by the cells called melanocytes. Melanocytes can overproduce melanin due to UV exposure, hormonal fluctuations and aging. Overproduced melanin particles cluster together and are released from the melanocyte to other skin cells, eventually resulting in a dark spot or uneven skin tone.
